We are thrilled to be launching today, the 3rd Art Exhibition in the Art Space, which evolved from an Art Studio, to a display space, for local artists to showcase their work. “There’s so much talent on the island, but few have the opportunity to do an exhibition, of their work to the public” said owner Wendy Bertucci. Laluna offers the space for free, and 100% of sales goes directly to the artist.
Today is the launch of Nisha McIntyre’s ‘Bloom’. It sill be Nisha’s first solo exhibition, which is exiciting to host at Laluna’s Art Space.
Nisha’s a creative person, with a love of all things art. In her youth she studied visual art at secondary school and was a staple in the National Festival of the Arts competition. Later she went on to do theatre while studying journalism and business liberal arts, all the while applying her talent and skill of visual art to the painting of costumes and later fashion designs. She fused her talent for graphic design with her BA degree in journalism.
Nisha has found solace once more in the bosom of visual art. Returning to the craft in 2017 following the death of her parents, she paints mostly as therapy and often for her friends. ‘Bloom’ is her first ever public showing. It represents a coming-of-age moment for the artist, who is transitioning into yet another phase of her life showing a passion project that exhibits pieces mostly done this year as she celebrates her return to creativity.
Most of the pieces, including her hero piece on Maurice Bishop, ‘Free People’, are mixed media with acrylic paint, also the use of synthetic flowers and gemstones. They represent her pride in country, her desire to live fully, and her commitment to self expression. Check out more of Nisha’s exhibited work here. Contact the artist directly for interested purchases of her work.
Most shows will run for an average of 2 months, so that visitors to the island, guests at Laluna Hotel and patrons of The Monkey Bar can get an opportunity to view the work and even contact the artist directly for purchasing their Grenada art.
The Art Space overlooks The Monkey Bar, which is open every Friday, Saturday & Sunday from lunch to sunset, and featuring a Sunday local dish, which can be discovered on our instagram page @TheMonkeyBar, and is also available for private events.
Two acres of beachfront land, called the ‘Enchanted Forest’. Comprising of Land Art which continues to evolve with new art installations, in the creating a platform of inventive creations, for instance, up-cycling plastics into art sculptures.
