We look back on the devastation that Hurricane Beryl did on our sister islands of Carriacou and Petit Martinique on 1st July 2024. There was an overwhelming outpouring of support and donations that came to our sister islands aid. Hence the creation of Laluna’s Hurricane Beryl Relief Fund
Laluna decided to do their part and raise funds with a “Double Your Impact” Initiative for Hurricane Beryl Relief Efforts.
They invited past guests and friends to contribute, pledging to match 100% of all donations received.
The response was extremely positive. Thanks to the generosity of our Laluna’s guests and friends, monies were raised successfully to more than XCD $55,000 in donations.
The matching contribution from Laluna means that over XCD $110,000 will be directed towards hurricane relief efforts.
After various consultations with Government officials, we decided to utilize the funds raised to provide assistance to young students from the sister islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique to ensure they can successfully continue their education in Grenada. This support will help them recover from the immediate impacts of the hurricane and to focus on their academic goals. The assistance will be for the entire 2024/25 school year and involves support for paying for accommodation in Grenada, food, books and school supplies.
The cheque for XCD$110,000 was given to the Prime Minister (Hon) Dickon Michtell, yesterday at Laluna.
“Our deepest gratitude to Bernardo and Wendy Bertucci and the Laluna family for this amazing “Double your Impact” Initiative. The students who will benefit from this kind gesture will be truly grateful for this generous help” said Prime Minister Hon. Dickon Mitchell, who received the cheque on behalf of the Government of Grenada.
