Spring is just around the corner, and with it comes wedding season. As you can probably guess, our favorite type of wedding is a destination wedding. We find that brides and grooms are more relaxed, and are able to enjoy their day much more, when a vacation state of mind pairs with their best day yet. Of course, there are many things to take into consideration when planning a destination wedding, some of which we have outlined today.
1. Use Trusted Sources
When planning from afar, it can be hard to know who to trust. Check sites including yelp.com, tripadvisor.com, and fodors.com for reviews of venues if you are unable to visit in advance. When dealing with venues, don’t be afraid to ask for references or to see photos of previous events. Of course, it’s always safest to leave it to the experts who arrange weddings regularly, rather than having a non-traditional venue try to facilitate things for the very first time.
2. The Package
It is common for locations known for their destination weddings to have preset packages available for guests to select from. At Laluna, the approach is holistic; we focus on your entire experience rather than one element of it. It is not only our goal to create a fabulous ceremony, but to also ensure that you are stress-free and pampered leading up to the big event. After years of working with couples, we have created a wedding package that truly allows for a magical moment to unfold. Including everything from accommodations, to pre-wedding spa services, to the wedding cake, to the photographer and much more, we make sure that all of the must-haves are taken care of by the experts.
3. The Customization
While a wedding package is a great start, every bride and groom has their own idea of what their wedding day should be. Some envision walking down the sand to a flower covered canopy in front of all of their family and friends; others want a sunset ceremony with just the two of them. When speaking to your venue of choice, make sure that you can personalize your wedding a la cart if the package offered is not your style. After wedding planning for years, our helpful staff is able to offer everything from customized playlists, to specialty bouquets, to the transformation of our beachfront yoga pavilion into an intimate, romantic wedding location.
4. The Honeymoon
Many planning a destination wedding decide to stay on-location and continue their honeymoon there. It is much more relaxing knowing you don’t have to pack up and hop an early morning flight to start your honeymoon; instead, you can wake up as newlyweds who are already there! With the number of activities to do around the resort—and the island—many of our newlyweds choose to stay on at Laluna following their ceremony. Often, wedding guests come before the wedding for a short vacation and leave soon after; this gives lovebirds the chance to take in the romance of Laluna by themselves.
5. Take a Breath and Relax
Whether your wedding is in your own backyard or thousands of miles from home, something unpredictable is sure to happen. Don’t let it ruin your big day. Take a yoga class, have a massage, and be blissed out and ready to walk down the aisle. And hey, if you need the extra boost of liquid courage, our bartender will happily pour you one last drink before you head down the aisle!
