With St. George’s University Family Weekend upon us, many families will be flocking to Grenada to visit their student loved ones. While the school offers a number of activities for guests to take part in, there are those that only our boutique resort can provide. Here are our tips for the perfect Family Weekend getaway:
Try Something New
Given our secluded location, the beach at Laluna (and the water as well) remains relatively unpopulated, making it the ideal place to experience a new activity. We offer a variety of watersports that many visitors have never had a chance to try. Hit the water on a standup paddleboard, or try your hand at sailing a hobie cat around our quiet bay. If you’re more of a landlubber, our beachfront yoga pavilion offers a unique place to enjoy yoga or Pilates while listening to the waves lap the shore and feeling the cooling ocean air on your skin.
Soak Up the Sun
Of course, a trip to the Caribbean would be incomplete without some serious Vitamin D consumption. As polar vortexes hit the rest of the world, it remains sunny and warm in Grenada; take advantage of that by grabbing a beach (or pool) side lounge chair and soaking up the rays. Your friends at home are sure to be jealous of your tropical glow!
If you’re taking part in a lot of arranged Family Weekend activities (or even if you’re just making multiple trips to the grocery store for your student!), you’ll want a break to just relax. We recommend a sojourn in the Laluna Asian Spa. Enjoy a massage, facial, or pedicure in the soothing environment of the spa. Following your treatment, take a moment to enjoy some fresh ginger and honey tea in the quiet relaxation area; many of our guests enjoy playing “spot the lizard” from their seat.
Utilizing the freshest local ingredients paired with high-quality Italian imports, the Laluna restaurant is an excellent place to indulge in a satisfying meal. Whether you choose to treat your student to a meal or make it a couples-only date night, the Laluna restaurant is a wonderful place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, lunch, or dinner. For dinner, start out with a happy hour cocktail while watching the sun go down over the Caribbean sea at the Sunset lounge, and then head into the restaurant for dinner, dessert, and perfectly paired wine. Reservations are recommended.
We hope you enjoy our island during SGU Family weekend, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
