In our many years of helping to plan and coordinate destination weddings in Grenada, we’ve arranged ceremonies throughout the seasons. With the combination of glittery lights, white seasonal decorations, the sand and the sea, a Christmastime destination wedding is one of our favorite types to organize. Here are our top reasons why.
Take advantage of the time of year with delicious local favorites. In Grenada ingredients are fresh, locally grown, and seasonal. A local holiday favorite is a drink made of sorrel, a member of the hibiscus family. Steeped with island ingredients including cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and orange (we are known as “the Spice Isle, after all!), the drink is akin to a Grenadian cider, and would be a lovely treat to welcome guests. Another not-to-be-missed fare is the succulent Spiny Lobster of the Caribbean, which is only in season in months with an “r”. Be sure to ask how the chef can incorporate this delicacy into your wedding dinner.
Make the most of the natural settings and seasonal decor of your wedding location. Weddings at Laluna take full advantage of our pristine beach and amazing sea view. With a beach-chic arbor set up on the sand, the bride walks down the beach carrying beautiful tropical flowers to meet her groom. Later, wedding goers dance and mingle the night away under the seasonal twinkly lights in the Sunset Lounge.
In Grenada, there is no need to hide your gown under a bundle of coats, scarves, and gloves. Your attire—be it a casual sundress or full ball gown—can take center stage. Plus, in photos, a sunkissed glow beats a frosty red nose any day!
The Relaxation Amenities
Even with the low-stress nature of planning a wedding at Laluna, it is normal to experience some level of jitters before walking down the aisle. At Laluna, we have many ways to help you manage stress and keep it from ruining your big day. Take a yoga class, work it out in our new gym, enjoy a massage, and be blissed out and ready to walk down the aisle.
Many couples planning a destination wedding decide to stay on-location and continue their honeymoon on-site. It is much more relaxing knowing that you don’t have to pack up and hop an early morning flight to start your honeymoon; instead, you can wake up as newlyweds who are already there! While honeymooning at the resort our guests often enjoy couples massages, ocean kayaking, hiking to waterfalls (especially the aptly named “Honeymoon Falls), and day trips into the markets of St. George’s.
At Laluna, our wedding planning approach is holistic; we focus on your entire experience rather than one element of it. It is not only our goal to create a fabulous ceremony, but to also ensure that you are stress-free and pampered leading up to the big event. After years of working with couples, we have created a package that truly allows for a magical moment to unfold. From massages, to mani/pedis, to cake, to flowers, to the photographer, we take care of it all.
